Monument is dedicated to Sekizo Uyeda and Miles W. Vaughn in Shinobazu, Ueno Park, Tokyo. Uyeda, president of Nippon Dempo Tsushinsha, and Vaughn, vice president of UPI, perished together in a Tokyo bay Squall after having accomplished their historic mission in establishing an independent network for the free flow of world news amid global tides of bias. The monument, dedicated by friends of the two and the Vaugh Prize recipients, stands as a symbol of mutual respect and Japanese-American Interdependence.
